I attended the 4th World Teachers' Day in Thailand and the 12th UNESCO-APEID International Conference from 26th - 29th March 2009. This event was organised by the Ministry of Education, Thailand in collaboration with APEID-UNESCO and was held at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok. The theme, Quality Innovations for Teaching and Learning, highlighted the importance of teacher education and provide a forum for policy makers, educators, teachers, academicians and researchers to discuss, exchange information and learn from each other on how we can teach and learn - in a more innovative way - with our heads, hearts and hands to ensure a sustainable future.

The 4-day event had been an eye-opener for me as I got to interact with participants from all over the world and to learn more about the education systems from other countries especially from ASEAN. I also took the opportunity to observe the entire conference setup and proceedings to gain some ideas for our Teachers Conference 2010 to be held next year.

Presentation and papers presented at the conference can be downloaded at

Do take a look at the presentation materials related to the plenary sessions on
(1) Strengthening the teaching profession for the 21st century
(2) Harnessing the potential of ICT in education

Besides attending the conference, I also found time to visit the famed Chulalongkorn University which is a stone's throw away from MBT.
